Adventure Bike Rental in Bali

Adventure-touring bikes sit tall, run a small screen and carry more suspension travel than a street bike. In Bali that is less about dirt than about broken village asphalt, unpainted speed bumps and long days in the saddle.

Who this type is for

This is the category for riders whose week has fewer cafe hops and more full days — Tanah Lot, the hills above Tabanan, a run to Ubud and back. You sit up, you see over the traffic, and the suspension absorbs what a low street bike sends into your wrists.

The small screen pushes wind off your chest at bypass speed, which is what makes a Canggu-to-Uluwatu run less tiring rather than faster.

Adventure styling is not a dirt bike

The lighter machines here run 17-inch wheels with road tyres front and rear. The beak, the hand guards and the tall silhouette are styling on a street chassis. Read them as comfortable road bikes with extra ground clearance and they never disappoint.

Unpaved villa lanes, hard-packed dirt shortcuts through the rice fields and construction gravel are fine. Beach sand, mud tracks and rutted trails after rain are not, and off-road use outside designated areas is prohibited under the rental terms — that clause exists because road tyres on a wet trail end predictably.

Engine size and licence

This category spans the widest range in the fleet. The Honda CB150X is a 150cc single that sits inside SIM C. The larger touring machines — CB500X, Kawasaki Versys — are above 250cc, which on an Indonesian licence means SIM CI or SIM CII rather than SIM C.

Visitors ride on a home motorcycle licence plus an IDP. Home licence categories and travel policies are often capped by engine size as well, so read both before booking anything larger than a 155.

Rental in Canggu

Pickup is at Treasure Bike Rental on Jalan Raya Padonan, Tibubeneng, Monday to Saturday 09:00–17:00 WITA. Villa delivery in the Canggu zone — Berawa, Pererenan and Tibubeneng — is free; other Bali zones are priced at checkout.

Deposit amounts and live availability are on each bike card. The CB150X is the model we suggest most often for 30-day bookings, because comfort compounds over a month in a way it does not over a weekend.

Common questions

  • Can I take an adventure bike off-road in Bali?

Not in the sense the styling suggests. The lighter machines run 17-inch wheels with road tyres, so unpaved villa lanes and hard-packed dirt are fine while sand and mud tracks are not. Off-road use outside designated areas is prohibited under the rental terms.

  • What is the difference between an adventure bike and a naked one here?

Ride height, suspension travel and a small screen. The adventure bike copes better with broken village asphalt and long days; the naked is lower, easier to put a foot down on, and less tiring to park in a crowded villa gate.

  • Which adventure bike is best for a month in Canggu?

The Honda CB150X, most of the time. A riding position that is merely acceptable for a weekend becomes the reason you stop riding by week three, and the CB150X is still pleasant on day twenty-eight of commuting between a villa and a cowork.

  • Do I need a different licence for a CB500X or a Versys?

On an Indonesian licence, yes — those are above 250cc, so SIM C is not the right class for them. Visitors ride on a home licence plus an IDP, and home categories are often capped by engine size too. Check yours before booking one of the larger machines.

  • Is the screen enough in the rain?

No. It pushes wind off your chest, not water off you. Bali storms are heavy and short — pull under a roof and wait rather than riding through the first minutes, when painted lines and metal covers are at their most slippery.
