How to rent a motorcycle in Canggu
Published 13 Sept 2026
Canggu runs on two wheels. Beach roads, villa gates, cafe strips and the evening crawl toward Seminyak all assume you can move without waiting for a Grab. If you are searching for how to rent a motorcycle in Canggu, this page is the hub: what to bring, what the shop expects, how delivery and deposits work, and which kind of bike fits which ride.
Treasure Bike Rental is a motorcycle shop on Jalan Raya Padonan in Tibubeneng, Canggu (Kuta Utara, Badung). We rent street, sport and custom motorcycles — not a scooter mill. Hours are Monday–Saturday 09:00–17:00 WITA; Sunday is closed. This guide is how pickup works with us, in line with the rental terms. It is not legal advice and it does not replace the police.
Browse live stock on the catalog, or message us if you want help matching a bike to your dates.
Motorcycle vs scooter in Canggu
Most “motorbike rental Canggu” results push automatic scooters: NMAX, PCX, Vario-class bikes that dominate tourist Google results. Those machines are fine for short hops if that is what you want. They are not what we stock as the default.
Motorcycle, in this shop’s language, means a geared street or sport bike you shift yourself: clutch, gearbox, a riding position built for roads that leave the Batu Bolong strip. Scooter means twist-and-go automatic. Bali traffic does not care which word you typed into search — checkpoints care about the license class, and the bike cares about how you ride it.
Why the distinction matters in Canggu:
- Traffic mix. Berawa and Pererenan villa lanes are slow and sandy. The bypass and the run toward Uluwatu or Ubud reward a bike that can hold speed without vibrating itself apart.
- Skill match. If you have never used a clutch, Canggu’s first rainy evening is a bad classroom. Start honest about that before you book a Yamaha MT25 or a Honda CBR250RR.
- Search vs fleet. “Scooter rental Bali” SERPs belong to island-wide scooter operators. We own the motorcycle rental story: geared bikes, custom builds, Canggu NAP on Padonan, live booking. If you need an automatic for a week of cafe hops, say so on WhatsApp — we will tell you when our fleet is the wrong tool rather than sell you the wrong story.
Rent motorcycle Tibubeneng, in practice, means you are close to the shop: short delivery, easy return, and a counter that can walk you through the papers before you roll onto Padonan.
What “Canggu” means for a rental
Canggu is not one street. Guests say Canggu when they mean Berawa villas, Echo Beach, Batu Bolong, Pererenan rice-field roads, or Tibubeneng itself. Delivery pricing follows that geography: the free zone is Berawa, Pererenan and Tibubeneng. Seminyak, Ubud, Uluwatu and the airport are different jobs with fees shown at checkout. If your pin is ambiguous, send it on WhatsApp before you pay — zone mistakes are cheaper to fix in chat than at the villa gate.
We keep one shop NAP. Treasure Bike Rental is the rental name on this site and on Google Business Profile. Treasure Garage is the parent custom brand. The legal entity behind both is CV Sumber Harta Karun. If a listing, invoice or Maps pin disagrees with Jalan Raya Padonan in Tibubeneng, treat the Tibubeneng location page and about page as the source of truth.
License, IDP, STNK
Indonesian traffic law expects riders to hold a valid motorcycle license. For visitors that usually means an International Driving Permit (IDP) together with a motorcycle license from home. Full shop detail lives on the motorcycle license and IDP guide; this section is the short version you need before you book.
What to bring to pickup
- a motorcycle license issued in your home country
- an IDP that matches that license (visitors)
- the passport you used for the booking
A car-only license is not a motorcycle license. If you are unsure whether your permit covers motorcycles, check before you travel — we cannot invent a substitute on the day.
An IDP is a translation of your home license, not a license by itself. Indonesian traffic checks typically look at both. Keep the originals with you; a photo on your phone is not the same as the paper.
Long-stay riders with KITAS sometimes hold an Indonesian SIM C. That is a different path from a tourist IDP. If that is your situation, say so when you book so pickup is not a surprise.
STNK and papers on the bike
Every rental leaves with the vehicle papers that belong with that unit. In Indonesia that means the STNK (vehicle registration) for the motorcycle you are riding. Keep it with the bike — usually under the seat or in the document pouch we show you at handover — and carry your license and IDP on your person.
Phone photos of documents are not documents at a checkpoint. If an officer asks for papers, you produce the physical ones.
Checkpoints, helmets and common failures
Razia stops in and around Canggu usually check the obvious: are you wearing a helmet, do you have a motorcycle license (and IDP as a visitor), and does the bike have its STNK. Passenger helmets matter when you carry someone. Fines and legal outcomes are yours — we help with shop-side facts (which bike, which booking) but we do not negotiate tickets for you.
Most rental problems we see are boring, not dramatic:
- car license only, hoping the officer will “understand tourists”
- IDP left in the villa safe
- STNK left on a café table after a seat search
- riding without a helmet for a “two-minute” villa hop
Fix those four and you have done more than any blog list of beach cafes. Rider rules are also in the terms.
We are not an immigration or police office. Rules can be applied differently at a razia. The practical step is to carry what the law already asks for, wear a helmet, and ride sober.
Deposit, delivery, monthly
Three operational questions show up in almost every Canggu booking chat. Answers below match how Treasure Bike Rental actually runs pickup — not affiliate blog slogans.
Deposit and passport
A deposit is required. The amount is on each bike page and at booking. You can leave it as cash or transfer, or leave your passport as collateral. Either way it is returned when the bike comes back in good condition. We do not keep your passport after the rental.
The deposit covers damage, loss, late return fees, a fuel shortfall, or traffic fines tied to the rental. If costs exceed the deposit, you agree to pay the difference. Full wording is in the deposit terms.
Internet advice that says “never leave a passport” is talking past our actual options. Cash or transfer is always available. Passport as collateral is an option some guests choose for short stays; it is still returned at the end of a clean rental.
Delivery in Canggu
The shop is in Tibubeneng on Jalan Raya Padonan. Villa drop-off in the Canggu zone — Berawa, Pererenan and Tibubeneng — is free. Other Bali zones are priced at checkout.
What we need for delivery:
- a pin or clear villa / hotel name
- a reachable WhatsApp number
- a time window that fits shop hours (Mon–Sat 09:00–17:00 WITA)
Airport handovers and far zones are different from a free Canggu villa drop. Ask on WhatsApp with the address before you assume the fee. Pickup at the shop is always available if you prefer to see the bike on Padonan first.
Daily, weekly and monthly
Short stays book from the catalog: pick dates, compare daily and weekly pricing, reserve the unit you want. Longer stays — digital nomads, villa months, surf seasons — should use the monthly motorbike rental in Bali page. Choose about 30 days on the calendar to see the monthly tier, or open that landing for long-term rates and FAQs.
Monthly does not change the license or deposit rules. It changes the price structure and how long the bike is reserved for you. Extensions must be requested and paid before the booked period ends; early return does not refund the unused days.
Cancellation and changes
Cancellation after payment follows the terms: no refunds after payment except force majeure cases spelled out there. If we cannot provide the booked bike, we offer a substitute or a full refund. Date changes and delivery-time shifts are best handled early on WhatsApp while the calendar still has room — last-minute Friday evening requests in peak season are harder.
Which bike for which ride
Treasure's catalog is street and sport motorcycles, with custom builds available on request. The short version:
- Daily Canggu — cafes, villa lanes, cowork runs: Yamaha XSR155, or a custom XSR155 for the built look on the same chassis.
- Long upright days — Tanah Lot, Tabanan, a run to Ubud: Honda CB150X.
- You already ride geared bikes and want overtaking authority: Yamaha MT25.
- Sport geometry and hours at pace toward Uluwatu: Honda CBR250RR.
- A built machine from the Treasure Garage side: custom stock — individual units, so availability is tighter than a model with spares behind it.
The reasoning behind each of those — clutch hours, honest daily distance, a passenger, rain, seat height — has a page of its own: which motorcycle to rent in Canggu. Availability and deposit amounts live on the bike card, never in an article.
If you have never used a clutch, or you are coming back to one after years of automatics, read first ride in Bali traffic before you book. We do not run a riding school, and we will refuse a rental when it is clear the rider cannot operate the bike safely out of the Tibubeneng gate. That is better than a deposit argument after a dropped clutch in Berawa traffic.
How booking works at Treasure Bike Rental
The funnel is simple on purpose: catalog first, WhatsApp when you need a human.
1. Pick dates on the catalog
Open the home catalog. Set the rental period before you fall in love with a photo. Prices and availability are date-based — a bike free next Tuesday may already be reserved for your Friday arrival.
2. Compare bikes
Each listing shows engine size, price for the selected period, deposit amount and included options. Open the detail page for photos, longer description and the exact deposit. Model hubs (XSR155, MT25, CBR250RR, CB150X) group stock when you are still deciding between units.
3. Book online or confirm on WhatsApp
Continue to booking with your dates preserved, or message WhatsApp if you need delivery timing, a document check, a monthly quote, or help choosing between two bikes. A booking is confirmed when you receive confirmation from us (email, WhatsApp, or the booking system). Provide accurate contact details.
Payment is in IDR. Online payment runs through Xendit (cards, bank transfer, e-wallets). Cash at the office is possible by prior arrangement. Details are in the terms.
4. Pickup or delivery
Shop pickup: Treasure Bike Rental, Jalan Raya Padonan, Banjar Tibubeneng, Kel. Tibubeneng, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kab. Badung, Bali. Map pin: Google Maps. Bring license, IDP, passport, and payment or deposit as agreed.
Villa delivery: free in Berawa, Pererenan and Tibubeneng within shop hours. Have your documents ready when the bike arrives — handover still includes the same checks.
We walk through the bike, helmets and accessories, where the STNK lives, and how to reach us if something happens. Helmets are required while riding; you may not sub-rent the motorcycle or hand it to someone who was not authorised on the booking.
5. During the rental
Report damage, loss or theft immediately. GPS is fitted on the fleet; that helps us support you, it does not replace your responsibility for the bike. Prohibited use — racing, stunts, off-road unless designated, riding outside Bali without permission, riding under the influence — can end the rental under the terms.
Fuel is your job during the rental. Fill at a petrol station: bottle petrol is of unverifiable quality, our bikes are fuel-injected, and damage caused by the fuel you put in is yours to pay. Petrol in Canggu covers the grade, the words to use at the pump, and what to do if diesel goes in by mistake. Return the bike at the agreed fuel level — a shortfall is charged as the fuel difference plus a service fee from the deposit, in practice around the equivalent of IDR 30,000 per litre, per the terms. Late returns can incur hourly fees or an extra day; extensions need approval before the period ends.
Keep our WhatsApp number saved. Flat battery, puncture, or a crash needs a message sooner rather than a long silence. We work to keep repair costs fair; that still starts with an honest report.
6. Return
Bring the motorcycle back in good condition to the agreed place and time. Deposit (cash, transfer, or passport collateral) is returned after a clean check-in. Outstanding fines or damage are settled from the deposit first. Helmets and accessories that leave with the bike come back with the bike, or replacement cost applies.
If you are still deciding, start with dates on the catalog. If you already know the bike and only need delivery or a document check, WhatsApp is faster.
Practical checklist before you ride
Use this the night before pickup:
- Motorcycle license + IDP (visitors) packed as originals, not only phone photos.
- Passport matching the booking.
- Deposit method decided (cash, transfer, or passport collateral).
- Delivery pin sent, or shop visit planned within Mon–Sat 09:00–17:00 WITA.
- Honest read of whether you can ride a geared motorcycle in left-side traffic.
- Travel insurance checked if you want cover — we do not sell it.
- Helmet habit locked in for rider and passenger.
- First-day route planned on quieter Padonan-side roads before the beach strip at peak hour.
Where this guide sits in the cluster
This page is the hub for how to rent a motorcycle in Canggu. Each spoke goes deep on one decision: license and IDP for the documents, which motorcycle to rent for choosing the machine, first ride in Bali traffic for the first hour on the road, and petrol in Canggu for fuel. Around them sit monthly rental for long stays, Tibubeneng / Berawa / Pererenan for place-specific pickup, and custom bikes plus the model hubs when you are comparing units. Start here, then follow the link that matches the decision you still need.
Canggu rewards riders who treat the bike as transport, not a prop. Rent the motorcycle that matches your skill, carry the papers the road expects, and book where availability is live. That is how motorbike rental in Canggu works at Treasure Bike Rental in Tibubeneng.

Super nice staff and a great place to rent a bike while you’re in Bali. I can definitely recommend these guys and their shop. Yan always helps me and takes care of everything whenever I need a bike. I’ve already been renting from them for five months and I’m completely satisfied. The bikes are always in perfect condition, and you can also stop by, have a coffee, and enjoy some good moments with the staff and all the bikes around. It feels like more than just a rental place. Highly recommended!

I rented a Honda CBR250RR from these guys and had a great experience. The bike was in excellent condition, clean, well-maintained, and a pleasure to ride. The whole rental process was smooth and easy, and the team was friendly, responsive, and helpful throughout. I rode the bike for a week and was so impressed that it actually convinced me to buy my own CBR250RR afterward. 😄
